It's finished. My interim pastorate at the First Presbyterian Church of Gibson City, IL ended at the conclusion of November. It was a good interim. The congregation not only said, "nice sermon pastor." They acted on what they heard. About a year after I was on the scene, one of the Elders came up with a vision of having a garden. Produce from the garden would be supplied to the food pantry. He took the idea to the whole congregation. They.approved it and joined in tending the garden. Shortly before I left they ripped out two weight bearing walls and provided a new place for Head Start. They're ready now to receive new members under their new pastor.
So, I'm back in the job hunt again. I am taking some down time to deal with a family emergency, not to mention morning the separation from a group I have grown to love. But essentially I am now hunting for a new call. And like any Benedictine I respond to Father Benedict's call to begin all things with prayer. Guide me, Lord, in my search. You made the choice of my last call so obvious that even I could sense it. I pray you the next call obvious too. Lead me Lord. And BTW, you know the family emergency. Give us the strength to deal wit it.
